We deliver a high-impact and visible nutrition program in Gedo that reverses acute malnutrition in vulnerable groups and offers cumulative improvements in nutritional status in children. Our primary healthcare initiatives include Maternal and Child Health centers (MCHs), health posts, and outreach teams, offering extended services such as antenatal care, immunizations, and nutrition support. We ensure children have a health start by managing a cold chain that delivers up to 33,000 vaccines on an annual basis. In the last 10 years, we have reached up to 120,000 learners with varied support to facilitate schooling. Our current support is centered in 32 schools spread over Bardera, Belet-Hawa, and Burdubo Districts. HIRDA has worked with the most deprived families, uplifting them from the ravages of conflict, climate-induced shocks, chronic poverty, and diseases. Throughout our implementation journey, we have integrated livelihoods, relief, and emergency response to reach communities in the most difficult setups in Somalia.\nFocus on Communities: Our current strategic focus and geographical scope have been refined to focus on the pressing needs of communities in Somalia. This ensures that no one is left behind in the post-conflict transition. In line with strategic priorities, HIRDA-Somalia is committed to developing, implementing, up-scaling, and sustaining efficacious interventions; providing communities with healthy lives; children with a secure future; and households with resilient livelihoods within Somalia and the region.","exclusions_policy_url":"https://hirdaafrica.org/","first_publication_date":"2025-03-04T14:01:00+00:00","hq_country":"SO","organisation_identifier":"XM-OCHA-HPC6052","organisation_type":"22","region":"","reporting_source_type":"primary_source","website":"https://hirdaafrica.org/"}
