We use a repeatable model to: \n•\ttrain educators in the importance of play-based teaching for children’s learning \n•\ttrain communities and parents in the importance of play for children’s development\n•\twork with communities to design and install high-quality, sustainable and child-centred playgrounds.\n\nWe have expanded our work to refugee settlements, successfully completing projects in partnership with  UNICEF, Plan International, Save the Children, World Vision and other major NGOs, and have advised the Ugandan Government’s Ministry of Education and Sports on their Early Years and Outdoor Spaces policies. We also support disadvantaged young people to gain skills and employment through our apprenticeship and employment programmes. We have recently been awarded The Foundation for Social Improvement’s Small Charity, Big Impact award for our impact and our monitoring and evaluation work. We have recently built our 350th playground, and with each of our playgrounds benefitting an average of 1,500 children, our work has made a difference to the lives of half a million children in Uganda over the last 10 years, helping them gain all the benefits of play. We’ve also provided employment and training for 60 Ugandan staff since our inception, including 12 former street children, through our apprenticeship and employability programmes.   \n","exclusions_policy_url":"","first_publication_date":"2020-05-13T00:00:00+00:00","hq_country":"GB","organisation_identifier":"GB-CHC-1172875","organisation_type":"21","region":"","reporting_source_type":"primary_source","website":"https://www.eastafricanplaygrounds.org/"}
